GGM Science college organises World nature conservation day

Jammu, July 28: The NSS Unit1 of GGM Science College celebrated World’S Nature Conservation Day in connection with Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav with message to care, nuture and love nature and resources concluded here today.
The webinar was organized under the patronage of Dr. R. K. Tickoo Principal GGM Science College and guidance of Dr. Narinder Kumar NSS PO.
Dr. Ravender Tickoo who was the chief guest stressed upon the audience to follow all precautions and steps to protect and conserve nature. In this way, all efforts percolate to the masses. Dr.Ravinder Tickoo while speaking on the occasion said such webiner is essential for awareness of students community and whole world.
In this connection, a webinar was organized.
Dr. Ashaq Malik was the key resource person on the occasion. In his lecture, Dr.Malik threw a detailed light on the history, and objectives of World Nature Conservation Day on the theme for this year Forests and livelihood sustaining people and planet. He linked the day with the constitution duty 7(Articles 51A(G) and 48A, all religious preaching pertaing to conservation of nature, UN sustainable development goal no.6 , 7 12,13,14, and 15 and the steps required to conserve nature at individual and community level.
There are no. of threats to nature such as deforestation, illegal wildlife trade, pollution, using plastics, chemicals, and a lot more, he added.
Earlier, Dr. Narinder Kumar in his welcome address, he introduced the audience about the importance of World’S Nature Conservation Day. He emphasized that it is moral duty of every citizen of India to protect, preserve and conserve nature by establishing national parks and sanctuaries.
Large no. of students had joined the webinar by means of social media displaying banners/posters to disseminate maximum awareness in order to make the programme meaningful. No. of NSS volunterrs had joined the webinar from different colleges of Jammmu and Kashmir UT, took a pledge to protect and conserve natural resources like our forests.
The webinar ended with a special vote of thanks by Dr. Narinder Kumar. Technical support was provided by Seemab, Shubham and Tejasvani in organizing the webinar.
