Kishtwar cloudburst: Success continues to elude rescue teams | | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Kishtwar, July 29: The success continued to elude the cloudburst hit area of Honzar in Dachhan area of the district even after 72 hours since the tragedy hit the village and the fate of 19 missing persons is still unknown. As per the details available with Early Times, the slow pace of ongoing rescue operation could be gauged from the fact that it was after 64 hours three injured persons managed to reach at District Hospital Kishtwar. The official sources said that Nageena Begum wife of Abdul Jabar, Sadam Hussain Son of Mohammed Jabar & Shama Begum were today airlifted from village Sounder soon after weather improved. Senior officials including ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ragav Langher along with other senior officials of District Administration return to Jammu and Kishtwar after visiting the affected village for taking the stock of the situation along with relief and rescue operation. The locals said that in absence of proper equipments and sniffer dogs, the rescue and search operation in the area yield no results. Meanwhile, there was also reports of damages in Kiyar village of Panchayat Chicha A in Dachhan was also pouring in where in at least 5 houses, a temple and mosque has suffered damages added that all the locals interior paths along with main bridge in the village has been collapsed and washed away and required immediate efforts. The people from Kiyar village told the Early Times that due to heavy rain and flash floods, the village agriculture land also suffered massive damages and people at many places lost the link to their agricultural fields. The people urged the government to get the damages accessed at village Kiyar so that they could get relief and necessary help. |
