COVID: All educational institutes to remain closed in J&K | | | Early Time Report
Srinagar, Aug 1: Despite significant decline in the number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir, the administration on Sunday extended the suspension of class work in all educational institutes -- including schools, colleges and universities -- till further order in the Union Territory. As many as 145 people, including 97 from Kashmir and 48 from Jammu, tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours in the Union Territory, where there are only 1211 active positive cases. One person died due to COVID-19 in Jammu during the last 24 hours. An order issued by the J&K Chief Secretary, in his capacity as the Chairperson of State Executive Committee of the State Disaster Management Authority, said that all schools and higher educational institutes, including coaching centers, shall continue to remain closed for in-person teaching till further order. However, it said that educational institutes are permitted to seek personal attendance of limited vaccinated staff for administrative purposes. The order further said that there will be no weekend curfew in any district though night curfew will continue to remain in force across the Union Territory from 2000 hrs to 0700 hrs. “The maximum number of people permitted to attend any indoor or outdoor gathering has been restricted at 25,” it added. |
