Webinar on KP problems organized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 1: A webinar on the problems of Kashmiri Pandits community was organized by JKUT Webinar Group. “The Delimitation issue is the real test of the intent of the Indian state towards the displaced community of Kashmiri Pandits”. This was observed by the speakers in a Webinar today. In this connection, prominent Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmiri Sikhs and other non-Kashmiri speaking Hindus of the valley will be presentìng a joint letter to the Prime Minister during the month of August 2021. It was decided in the webinar conducted by the JKUT Webinar Group. The Webinar was presided over by B.L. Saraf, former Principal District and Sessions judge and the proceedings were conducted by Prof. Ritu Bakshi. The concluding speech and vote of thanks were presented by Utpal Kaul, senior leader of Kashmiri Pandit community. Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and KP leader presented the keynote address in the Webinar. “It was also observed that a lot of complaints regarding encroachment of land and properties of the displaced people were not being addressed by the authorities in the Kashmir valley. Despite the existence of the Immovable Migrant Properties Act of 1997, these issues of concern have remained unaddressed by the competent authorities. People have to go from pillar to post to get their complaints registered, investigated and redressed. The government should create a nodal agency in Kashmir to attend to these issues which exclusively need its attention and follow up. The usurpers and encroachers of these lands and properties should be evicted once the complaint is registered against them. This would be a great confidence building measure for the exiled community”, he further added. Adv. Sanjay Raina and Yoginder Kaul, former IGP said that there is a need of quick action in this regard so that the Parliament could take cognizance of the issue and respond to it during the current session. Having already represented the case before the Delimitation Commission of India and the Election Commission of India, it is now that needs an immediate follow up at the government of India level. In this connection, a joint letter will be presented to the Prime Minister of India on behalf of the minorities of Kashmir signed by the prominent KPs, Kashmiri Sikhs and the other non-Kashmiri speaking Hindus of Kashmir. |
