Poonch Admin starts public hearing for minor mineral blocks | | | Early Times Report
POONCH, Aug 1: District Administration Poonch has kick started Public hearing for Minor Mineral Blocks in the district In this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Basharat Hussain presided over the proceedings of the Public hearing for Minor Mineral Blocks(River Bed Mineral) here at village Dalera. The project envisages mining sand in an area of 8.54 hectares at Block No.-22 in River Poonch Upstream Sher-e- Kashmir Bridge (Bainch Area) at Village Dalera and Bainch. The locals raised various points and demanded strict check on illegal mining. They said many children have drowned into the river due to illegal mining. They also sought up-gradation of High school Dalera, and development of Play ground. The Environmental Consultation Committee briefed the audience about the details of the proposed mining block clusters, including the mining methods and anticipated impact from the mining in the area and the measures proposed under Environmental Management Plan and Corporate Environmental Responsibility. The Pollution Control Committee members disseminated the necessary awareness among the public and educated them about the ill effects of over- extraction of minor minerals on the ecosystem. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, in his address, made the locals and PRI members aware about the project details and listened patiently to their demands. He assured that the genuine concerns of the locals for reasonable rates of minor minerals and mining rights to their respective village shall be appropriately addressed. Divisional Officer Pollution Control Committee, Badar Hussain; representative of Directorate of Pollution Control Committee, Dr. Mohan Lal; District Mining Officer (DMO); Javid Ahmed, PRI members and other officer/officials of Pollution control committee were present on the occasion. |
