Jammu, Aug 1: Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens, JKUT held its annual general body meeting at the conference Hall of Indian Scouts and Guides JK at Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
The President of the Association Er.J.S. Sudan gave the welcome address Varinder Gupta, General Secretary read the Annual report narrating the details of activities carried out in-spite of the Covid pandemic for the last one and a half year.
R.S. Broca, treasurer, presented the audit reports of the detailed accounts of the Association.
Members who have crossed the age of 85 years celebrating their Silver Jubilee of senior Citizenship were felicitated and S/Sh K. K. Mahajan, M.M.Gupta and Dr.T.R.Gupta were honoured by presenting shawls to them.
The house paid tributes to the members who had passed away during the past year , and a two minutes silence was observed to pay homage and pray for the peace to their noble souls.
After this the next session for holding Elections for the new Executive body was started by Returning Officer Sh.S.C. Sharma and Sh.AK. Arora Patron and Sh.Prem Gupta IGP Rtd Patron was the observor for the process. Since no nominations had been recieved by the R.O. for any of the seven posts of the Executive, a vote was called for and name of Sh Varinder Gupta was proposed for President and house gave unanimous approval for him as President.
Subsequently Dr. Shashi Kant Goswami and Sh.O.P. Sharma were elected as Gen. Secy. and Treasurer respectively . The house nominated the outgoing President Er. J. S. Sudan as Patron of the Association. Mr Sudan thanked his outgoing executive body members for their continuous support during these difficult times and the sitting house for honouring him by installing him as Patron of the Association. All participants observed the covid SOP and the meeting ended with a small refreshment and a cup of tea.
