Plantation drive organized at Halqa Meen Sarkar

Jammu, Aug 1: A plantation drive was kick-started today at Panchayat Halqa Meen Sarkar by the members of the Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) in collaboration with ‘We The Human’—a non-government organisation and Bhartiya Kisan Sangh.
Sarpanch Bharat Bhushan kick-started plantation drive in the presence of Balkar Singh District President Bhartiya Kisan Sangh and Prashant Charak from ‘We The Human’ NGO.
In its first phase around 200 saplings were planted today at Joggers Park Barjani Talab and Eid Gah. While speaking on the occasion Sarpanch Bharat Bhushan laid emphasis on planting more and more trees in the area to reduce the level of air pollution.
He said that as the area is in the vicinity of Industrial hub Bari Brahmana it is bearing the brunt of air pollution which needs to be curbed. He further said that planting more and more trees in the area would help in bringing the air pollution down.
“The residents of the area are suffering from many chronic diseases just because of air pollution which is emanating from industries we would face more diseases in the days to come. The industries are giving us poison but the trees will give us clean air to breathe in”, he added.
He also urged upon the industrialists to contribute in maintaining the ecological balance by planting more and more trees so that the locals may not suffer due to certain types of pollution being generated by industries.
Balkar Singh from Bhartiya Kisan Sangh who is also a environmental activists and We The Human organisation assured full support to the local PRIs in their plantation drive.
Those present on the occasion include Shabir Ahmed, Arjun Singh, Shokit Ali, Majeed Hussain (all panches), Tarsem Paul, Ramesh Kumar, Kehar Singh, Gul Mohd, Noor Hussain, Chaman Lal, Raman Kumar, Balram Bhagat, Jaffar Ali and others.
