Sarkari style of rewarding the nationalist warriors | Pioneer of separatist-bashing in J&K punished unheard ! | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 2: For around three decades, when the separatist leadership was calling the shots in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, it was the Early Times, which introduced the professionalism of bashing them out for their anti-national ideology, left, right and center. Now, when almost everyone feels privileged to take a dig at the anti-nationals, the contribution of this nationalist daily is not only being ignored by those at the helm, the dispensation seems to be punishing the Jammu based daily for the path-breaking reporting on the issue. From Hurriyat-M, Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to his counterpart from the Hurriyat-G, Syed Ali Shah Geelani to the likes of Yasin Malik, Shabir Shah and Nayeem Khan, all the anti-national faces were exposed by this nationalist daily constantly not only till they finally were duly gagged by the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but even afterwards since. Lest we forget: In our ongoing series, we found it timely to reproduce some of the hundreds of shocking pieces as published in the daily over the years to expose the separatist conspiracies against the proud Indian nation. Not only the anti-national designs of the separatists were exposed by the Early Times in its series of reports, and opinion pieces by versatile nationalists, the nexus between the separatists and the dynasts who previously ruled J&K, was equally exposed. When the government offices would coordinate with the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for holding the anti-national week annually in the month of May, it was only the ET which would religiously expose the nexus. Even his in-laws getting huge loans from a financial institution was equally reported, exposed and analyzed. When the separatists including Syed Ali Shah Geelani would enjoy a field day to host anti-national events and press conferences, the shocking facts were duly reported and public sentiment accordingly refined in line with the need for the one India ideology. The expenditure, which the government would make on separatists would also be made public. To deal with the separatists and their anti-India conspiracy, a separate desk has remained dedicated for the case at the ET office to keep track of their sinister designs. Apart from exposing the shocking plots of the separatists, over the years the Early Times has kept an eye on their movements to religiously come up with follow ups. And examples are numerous on this front. When Geelani’s grandson, Anees Ul Islam, was given a job by the then government led by Peoples Democratic Party in 2016, it was only this newspaper which has been exposing how Anees’ appointment at the secured SK International Conference Center in Srinagar was not only detrimental for the nationalist interests but that it also injustice with the unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir. About Yasin Malik, the Early Times has been on an investigative front to expose, how he and his Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front was working on anti-national agenda. From his plots to enforce hartals to his meetings with the high profile people during the previous regimes, there’s hardly any dimension of Yasin’s anti-nationalism, which the ET has not touched to keep the nation informed. How separatist leader Shabir Ahmed Shah minted multi-crore fortunes was equally on the focus of the Early Times. From exclusive reports on his property details to his enjoying influence in the corridors of power right from New Delhi to Jammu and Kashmir government, everything was exposed with evidence. Another separatist leader Nayeem Khan was exposed that how he and his family was misusing power. While his family would draw salary from government, they would spend time setting anti-national agenda in the erstwhile state. Series of reports were also carried on other faces including Geelani’s son in law Altaf Funtoosh and his daughter Ruwa Shah. Even her getting engaged to a journalist was first reported by the Early Times, earlier this year. Many in the establishment say that the Early Times reports have served as a manual to crack whip on the separatists from time to time. For this nationalist daily, reporting against the separatists was like fighting the lone battle. Our staff would be intimidated from time to time, and dynasts would behave like B-teams of the Hurriyat. Finally, the much needed change came when in 2017 the Modi government launched a major crackdown on the Hurriyat leaders. While many of them were instantly arrested, those who stayed back were silence by the abrogation of the so called special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019. While the historic decision of the Modi government has unfolded a new era of peace and nationalist sentiment where the separatists are seen as condemned lot, ironically there’s no acknowledgement for the contribution made by this daily. Instead, we’re being targeted by the government. Hope the better sense prevails. Jai Hind ! |
