Nature conservation day celebrated at SMVDU

KATRA, Aug 2: The Hindi Cell of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) Katra, organized an online discussion program on the occasion of the World Nature Conservation Day.
Dr. Anil Kumar Tewari, Nodal Officer, Hindi Cell, welcomed the special guest speaker Dr. Ravindra Khaiwal, Associate Professor of Environment Health at the Department of Public Health at PGIMER, Chandigarh.
More than 30 students and faculty members joined the discussion.
Khaiwal addressed the audience on several important issues of public concern such as climate change, global warming, its impact on human health, pollution, etc. He also discussed why we need to develop an adaptation plan which included measures to counter air pollution, climate change, and climate variability for health. He talked about Covid-19 awareness and applauded students for the points they kept and queries they asked. He also told about the initiatives for COVID-19 awareness.
Dr. Anil Tewari also shared his thoughts on waste management, economic viability, and its role in pollution and contribution towards climate change and human health. He then presented his vote of thanks to the guest speaker Dr. Khaiwal, Mr. Sumanta Sarathi Sharma I/C Head, SoPC, and all the participants. He also appreciated the audience stating that they were full of zest and put amazing thoughts in the discussion.
