DG Accounts & Treasuries inaugurates plantation drive at Govt Girls Hr Sec School Shastri Nagar | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 9: To contribute towards preservation of the environment and promote the GO GREEN campaign, a plantation drive was today organized by Additional Treasury Gandhi Nagar Jammu in collaboration with Gaytri Parivar Trust J&K, here at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar. The tree plantation drive was conducted with an aim to increase Green Cover, contribute towards the Green Drive in the UT, fighting against global warming and reducing its impact on climate change and evolving a better environment for the posterity. The Director General Accounts & Treasuries, Finance Department, Mahesh Dass Sharma inaugurated the plantation drive in presence of Director Accounts and Treasuries Jammu, Neeraj Gupta Bakshi. Treasury Officer, Gandhi Nagar Treasury, Vaneet Singh Manhas; Additional Treasury Officer, Gandhi Nagar Treasury, Mehak Gupta; FA/CAO Directorate of School Education, Mahesh Sharma; Principal Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Geetu Bangotra, President Gaytri Parivar Trust J&K, Rakesh Sharma; Kulbhushan Khajuria (member of Kissan Board), Dr. Shiv Kumar, Y.S. Patharya, Rajinder Lakhanpaul (Gaytri Parivar members), Treasury Officer New Plot, Treasury Officer Talab Tillo, staff of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar, officers/officials of Divisional Forest Office Urban besides other concerned were also present on the occasion. The DG Accounts and Treasuries, after inaugurating the drive, said that it is an honour to be the part of such a noble venture as tree plantation is imperative and this initiative will go a long way in inculcating awareness in the society about environment, its conservation and keeping the same clean and green. The Director General Accounts & Treasuries praised the efforts of the Director Accounts & Treasuries, Jammu and Gaytra Parivar Trust in organizing such events. He said trees with their innumerous benefits have been termed as sacred in our ancient scriptures and Vedas and even worshipped as Tree God. The Director Accounts and Treasuries, while speaking on the occasion, said that trees are vital for the survival of planet earth as trees give oxygen, improve air quality, store carbon, preserve soil, support wildlife and give life to our environment. He also urged the general public to come forward and obtain saplings from the concerned departments and plant and nurture them for a clean and green Jammu. The President Gaytri Parivar Trust, while giving details of the plantation drive, informed that over 70 saplings of Rudraksh, Peepal, Chinar, other medicinal plants were planted today. He said the drive will continue till achieving the target of planting 21000 plants in Jammu and Kashmir in the current year |
