NCCOEEE withdraws work boycott call of August 10 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 9: National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) has decided to withdraw the call for work boycott on August 10 by the power sector engineers and employees as the draft Electricity (amendment ) Bill 2021 has not yet been cleared by the cabinet and is not likely to be placed in the current monsoon session of Parliament, said V K Gupta Spokesperson of All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF). This decision was taken in an online meeting of the NCCOEEE on Monday. All the constituents of NCCOEEE participated in the meeting chaired by Chakradhar Prasad Singh. It was also decided that in case the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 is tabled in this session, the power sector engineers and employees will go on a work boycott on the same day. Power engineers and employees will hold a one-hour protest demonstration on Tuesday to decry government’s atrocities on engineers and employees at New Delhi during four days satyagrah. V K Gupta asserted that all the 11 non-BJP states and two Union Territories had opposed the Electricity (Amendment) Bill. Centre’s move to table the Electricity (Amendment) Bill in Parliament, describing it as anti-people and the result of a unilateral decision by the central government.
