Bureaucrats make everyone unhappy
8/10/2021 12:28:51 AM
BJP leaders from Jammu and Kashmir are unhappy with the style of functioning of bureaucrats. Re cently they complained about them being ignored by the officials to party national general secretary B L Santosh and registered a strong protest.
After J&K’s transition into a union territory, bureaucrats have been calling the shots and running the government in their own way. The bureaucrats have sidelined BJP leaders in J&K and don’t pay any attention to them.
When the row over Mahajans, Khatris and Sikhs being deprived of buying or selling the agricultural land in J&K erupted, a senior BJP leader approached the officials on many occasions and demanded that the order should be amended but no heed was paid towards his request. Annoyed over the indifferent attitude of the bureaucrats, the BJP leader said that his party is not running the government and it’s the officials who are managing the show.
In yet another instance when toll plazas were set up in Jammu region, the BJP leaders approached every official to seek concessions for the local people but no one listened to them.
The crux is that the BJP leaders in J&K have been turned into non-entities and no one wants to listen to them. When these leaders were in power they had ignored the people who had voted for them. And it seems that they are getting a taste of their own medicine.
At present a debate has started within the BJP camp about bureaucrats ignoring them and their genuine demands.
Besides, politicians, residents of the Jammu region too are angry with the bureaucrats. They have been alleging that the government is inaccessible and no one wants to listen to them.
There are allegations that the entire administration has been hijacked by a coterie of officers who are treating people of Jammu region as second grade citizens.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is trying his best to ensure that benefits of the centrally sponsored schemes reach the poor and the people feel the change but some officials seem hell bent upon ruining the reputation of the government. They are misleading the Lieutenant Governor by providing him with the wrong feedback. After a long time J&K has got a leader who sincerely wants to address the issues of people but a handful of the officials are creating hurdles in smooth functioning of the administration.
