GDC Surankote organizes online patriotic poems recitation competition

POONCH, Aug 9: Under the ongoing national campaign “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”. As per the direction of the JK Higher Education Department and scheduled of GDC, Surankote, Department of Urdu organized online poems recitation competition on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day Celebrations.
This online competition was organized in collaboration with the Department of Arabic and Persian. The cultural and literary activity Committee of the College conducted such types of online programs towards the Indian Freedom Movement. The detailed programme introduction was given by the organizer Dr Khalil Ahmed, and a formal welcome address was presented by Dr Musarrat Jabeen, HOD Arabic. 15 students participated in this programme and scholars from different institutions of J&K participated in this online poetry recitation competition. Two judges of this programme were Dr Mohammed Latif Mir, HOD Urdu, GDC Poonch and Dr Ashaq Choudhary HOD Urdu, GDC, kunjwani Jammu. Dr Ramzan Ahmed HOD, Department of Persian & Co-Organizer, thanked all the students and scholars and said that the role played by Urdu literature in the independence movement is unforgettable. He added that it is important for every student and scholar to take part in online competitions across the country on the theme of the freedom movement so that they can develop a sense of patriotism as well as knowledge of the subject. Mohammed Abdullah got the first position, Mohd Qasim secured second position while Samina Kouser, Gulshan Bi and Maqsood Ahmed got 3rd position respectively. This online program was conducted by the overall supervision of the Principal GDC Surankote Dr Jasbir Singh.
