JAMMU, Aug 10: Councillor of Jammu Municipal Corporation Ritu Choudhary has castigated the awareness drive organized against plastic. Pertinently, an awareness camp under the title "Plastic do Thaila lo"was organised in ward no. 7 by JMC under the supervision of Mayor and Commissioner under the IEC Project. Ritu Choudhary said that during the awareness camp under the supervision of Mayor JMC and Commissioner, only a single president of bazar association was called and rest of the presidents of different markets of the ward were not invited. She appealed to the Mayor JMC and commissioner that if an awareness program is organised in any market of any ward, the Corporator as well as the President of the Bazar Market associations of the ward should be intimated so that more people can be made aware through them. She further said that if the awareness camp help is just attended by Mayor JMC and Commissioner JMC and other few staff members including them, then the awareness camp under IEC project is just for show and no real actual awareness is being done. "An awareness camp is successful only when a huge crowd of people participate in them and are made aware. But the program organised by JMC under the IEC Project just a had Mayor, Commissioner and their 3-4 underlings", she added. Corporator Ritu Choudhary advising Mayor JMC and Commissioner JMC said that awareness programs can only be successful when more and more people participate and which is only possible by the participation of Hon'ble Corporators of the ward and the Presidents of mohalla welfare societies, bazar associations and other prominent figures of the area. If such activities and awareness camps continue in the future like it happened today with just 3-4 people under the supervision of Mayor JMC and Commissioner JMC, then such IEC awareness camps are just failed projects, she alleged. |
