No traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway today | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 10: There will be no traffic on Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Wednesday in view of weekly maintenance. A traffic police official said Tuesday evening that no vehicle will be allowed to ply on the highway, the only all weather road connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country tomorrow. He said the Union Territory (UT) administration has decided to suspend traffic on the highway every Wednesday to allow National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to undertake necessary weekly maintenance on the road. Traffic on the highway was disrupted for about four hours on Monday evening due to landslides and shooting stones. Traffic was restored only after NHAI removed landslides and shooting stones. The official said traffic however, on other roads, including Srinagar-Leh, historic Mughal road and Anantnag-Sinthan-Kishtwar will continue as per traffic advisory. |
