Kulgam attack was planned in ‘Bollywood style’ to disrupt Independence Day celebrations! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 16: The recent attack on the security forces in south Kashmir that left a foreign terrorist dead was planned in “Bollywood style” to disrupt the Independence Day celebrations. A top police official told Early Times that on August 13 when the terrorists attacked a BSF party in Kulgam area and subsequently took refuge in a high rise building in the area was “not anything accidental.” “After attacking (BSF party) they (militants) did not take shelter into the building by accident… They had already stocked their arms and ammunition including rocket launchers in the building to engage with us for long,” said the official on the condition of anonymity. “The attack was carried out in Bollywood style but their plan was sabotaged well in time,” he added. He said the main challenge during the encounter that continued for the night was that the civilians held up in the building and in the vicinity had been taken hostage. “It was a hostage like situation to evacuate the civilians,” the police official said. The official said that through the use sophisticated weapons, the militants had planned to engage with the security forces for “long hours.” “Though use of heavy arms and ammunition they wanted to create news on the Independence Day, but their sinister designs were duly foiled,” said the official. It’s pertinent to mention that a holed-up terrorist of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), used rocket propelled grenade (RPG) to damage two drones of the security forces. He was subsequently killed in a night-long encounter. He was identified as Pakistani militant, Usman of the LeT. The terrorist had taken shelter in a building after attacking a BSF convoy at Malpora, Kulgam, around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The convoy was moving on the Srinagar-Jammu highway when at least two militants opened fire on it and later holed up in a multi-storeyed structure. The other militant is believed to have fled. |
