GSTWA deputation call on Parliamentary committee | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 19: A deputation of All J&K Gaddi Sabha (GSTWA) led by Parveen Jaryal president of the association called on Dr Vikas Mahatme MP Rajya Sabha and member of the fifteen member Parliamentary Committee on Subordinate Legislation at Srinagar and apprised him of the grievances of the tribal communities in J&K before and after the abrogation of Article 370. Various issues raised by the deputation include constitution of a common Tribal Development Board in J&K on the pattern of other states, giving political reservation to Gaddi and Sippi tribes in assembly constituencies on the basis of population, establishment of one Tribal Research Institute at Udhampur, Kathua or Bhaderwah and sanctioning of Gaddi and Sippi hostels at Bani, Billawer, Kathua, Jammu, Ramnagar, Chenani, Ramban and Bhaderwah on the analogy of Gujjar & Bakerwal hostels. During the meeting Jaryal also raised the issue of discrimination with the members of Gaddi and Sippi tribes and demanded extention of various schemes meant for tribal people in J&K UT to these tribes. Dr Vikas Mahatme gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by the tribals and assured that he would present the same before the chairman of committee for onward submission to the concerned quarters. Parveen Jaryal and other members of the deputation including Onkar Singh, Ved Raj and others thanked the members of Parliamentary Committee on Subordinate Legislation who are on a two day visit to J&K, for sparing time and giving consideration to the grievances and issues. |
