| Bureaucrats mislead Centre on pure drinking water supply in schools, Anganwari centres | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 19: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and the entire central government is working assiduously to develop Jammu and Kashmir as model Union Territory but those at the helm of affairs in J&K are misleading the Union Government.
Instead of providing authentic information regarding the implementation of welfare schemes on the grassroots Babus of J&K forwarding misleading and inaccurate reports to give the impression that schemes have been successfully implemented at ground level.
A recent example of misleading the Union Government is the claim of J&K administration of providing pure drinking water in all schools and Anganwari centres.
Misleading reports have been prepared that pure drinking water has been supplied to all government schools and Anganwari centres but the on-ground situation is entirely different.
Wishing anonymity, an officer of the Jal Shakti Department, posted in the Kandi belt of Samba district, disclosed that it was difficult rather impossible to provide pure drinking water in schools due to the non-availability of infrastructure. “What to say of providing pure drinking water in all schools, we have yet not provided tap water in all villages due to topography of some areas”, the officer said and expressed surprise over reports prepared by higher-ups regarding the supply of pure drinking water in all schools.
Highly placed sources said that after setting a target to ensure supply of pure drinking water in all schools and Anganwari centre, Babus, who have never visited Kandi and remotest areas of Jammu province, have prepared a report to mislead the Centre about achieving the target. |
