JAMMU, Aug 21: World Senior Citizens Day was celebrated by the Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens Jammu and Kashmir, in a well-attended function held at Shiv Mandir, Sector 3, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. Dr. Shashi Kant Goswami, General Secretary welcomed the participants, and Virender Kumar Gupta, President of the Association, threw light on the history and importance of the day.
On this occasion, the Association honoured super senior members of the Association including HB Khajuria (Retd Chief Engineer), HN Mishra (Retd Sessions Judge), KK Gupta (Retd Director Funds), by presenting shawl to them by Er Vinod Gupta, Joint Secretary along with other members for their contribution towards the welfare of senior citizens programmes.
Besides, I D Soni, a well-known social activist, and President of Old Age Home Ambphalla Jammu, was also honoured by presenting him a shawl. The Association also presented a cheque for Rs. 5100 as a donation for the Old Age Home.
The programme concluded with the recitation of poems by renowned poets under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Rashtriya Bhasha Parchar Samiti.
