PDD acting irresponsibly, power cuts in humid days make people suffer: Gurmeet Kour
8/21/2021 11:43:00 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 21: Lashing out at the Power Development Department for its sheer failure to provide electricity in rural areas, former Sarpanch and social activist Gurmeet Kour has accused the department for not addressing the problems of people of Chatha area and leaving them in lurch in these hot humid days.
She alleged that prolonged power cuts coupled with several unscheduled cuts have made the lives of the people hell. “There are two power stations, one in Chatha and another in Hakkal panchayat but earlier one remained overloaded. We talked to the department to shift the load other power station so that people could get proper voltage and the cases of failure of power station due to overload might be stopped but the department didn’t hear to the problems and continue to ignore the issues due to which people have been forced to live without power in entire day and night,” she alleged.
The power scenario is worse this year as compared to previous year. The power, which is given for one hour, also includes many power cuts. But the shocking thing is that the bills are inflated when there is no electricity. The department has totally collapsed in respect of its functioning.
“There is huge malpractice going on in the department. Meter Readers have emerged as the main culprits who have been serving inflated bills without taking physical readings,” she alleged.
If the power situation doesn't improve , a massive protest demonstration by blocking roads will be held , she warned.
