Speaking on the occasion, the Spokesperson Charanjeet Singh brief the media about the Failure of the Excise policy 2021-22. He said that the main aim of Excise Policy was to generate more revenue than previous years but the revenue has definitely fallen in comparison to the previous years.
The Law and order has been disturbed due to new Excise Policy as there are continuous protests from locals due to opening of wine shops in residential areas, near hospitals, Religious places and Educational Institutes. 3. Moreover, the department is using force to open these wine shops against the will of ocals and filing FIR's against those protesting against opening of wine shops, he said. He further said that as per the Excise Policy, in case of protests by locals, the licensee was supposed to find an alternate premises to run his/her business. The Policy was aimed to remove Cartelization and Mafia system but this policy has strengthened the Mafia, as they have attained multiple shops through proxy. Majority of the Old license (Single shop owners) have lost their livelihood and their financial condition is worsening day by day because government did not formulate Rehabilitation Policy for the Old licensees before announcing the Excise Policy 2021-2022
