JAMMU, Aug 21: To recognize various achievements of persons belonging to Jammu region related to adventure activities especially mountaineering and sport climbing, Tawi Trekkers J&K, Jammu, one of the biggest adventure clubs of India, has instituted “Duggar Gaurav Adventure Award” for excellence in adventure sports. The decision was taken in a specially convened meeting of veteran members and office bearers of the club held at Press Club of Jammu under the chairmanship of former MLA Ashwani Sharma, Patron of the club. The award to be presented every year on 2nd October, the foundation day of the club, will consist of a metal statuette, a shawl and a certificate and in case of a student or unemployed awardee an award money of Rs.21000 also. Normally, only one award shall be given annually but the club may increase the number of awards in a particular year for some specific reasons. However, as an exception, the present year being the first year of institution of Award it was decided that all the 10 Everesters belonging to Jammu shall be honoured with Duggar Gaurav Adventure Award on 2nd October, 2021 at Amar Singh Club, Jammu. Prominent among others present in the meeting included Patrons of the club Rahul Sharma, Chairman, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu; Prof Lalit Magotra, Advisor of the club, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Co-Chairman besides Ram Khajuria, President, Rajesh Gupta, Sr. Vice President and senior members Sumit Khajuria, Sonam Sidharth, Shashi Kant Sharma, Sunil Chakharia and Ashmika Thappa.
