JAMMU, Aug 22: NSS unit of GGM Science College while commemorating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav under the patronage of Principal, Dr Ravinder Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO Dr Deepali Mahajan today celebrated ‘Vriksh Rakshabandhan’ by tying Rakhis to the trees with the message ‘Protect Trees’. In many villages once a rakhi is tied to a tree, villagers don't pluck even a leaf from the tree. This green tradition is the need of hour to be adopted all over India. The volunteers took the pledge “Don’t make trees rare, keep them with care.” The volunteers participated in the drive saving the environment enthusiastically by celebrating a "Green Rakshabandhan". “Following the “Green Good Deeds" campaign, launched by the Environment Ministry, the NSS unit of GGM Science College started the societal movement to protect environment and promote good living,” Dr Ravinder Tickoo said in his message. Earlier NSS participated in plantation drives too. Taking this opportunity to spread awareness about the environment, we are tying rakhi on the trees. With the messages ‘Save Environment’ and ‘Save Trees, Save Life,’ we want to tell everyone how beneficial are the trees” as briefed by Dr Deepali Mahajan NSS PO, Sunandini, Nancy, Muskan, Deepika, Shaku, Neeru, Karan, Rupani, Harman and Azeem tied rakhis to the trees. |
