Sanskrit Diwas celebrated with religious fervour in RS Pura | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 22: World Sanskrit Day also known as Sanskrit Diwas today was celebrated with religious fervour in RS Pura. To mark the day, Acharaya Sanjeev Shastri organized various activities including plantation drive. Speaking on the occasion, Shastri said being the first spoken and oldest language, Sanskrit holds significance in the ancient history of India. It is also considered as the Dev Vani which translates as ‘Language of Gods.’ Despite all this, Sanskrit is not getting the recognition it deserves. As a result, World Sanskrit Day is celebrated all across the country in order to promote the resurgence and preservation of this language. Shastri further said that there is a need to make the youths aware of the uniqueness of the Sanskrit language. “There is a need to sensitize the new age generation towards the uniqueness and significance of Sanskrit language. Such initiatives go a long way in sensitizing the young generation towards preserving the Indian culture and knowledge systems,” said Shastri. Things have been changing in the recent past where Sanskrit students are being hired by software companies, civil services, fashion design, food industry, entertainment industry in the creation of serials and movies on ancient Vedas. With the increase in demand for experts in the subject, opportunities are opening up in government as well as the private sector. “Jobs for students having basic knowledge of Sanskrit and Natural Language Processing are on the rise. The digitization of ancient scriptures is another area in which Sanskrit students are getting jobs. There are a lot of opportunities in Sanskrit-allied areas such as Yoga and Ayurveda,” maintained Shastri. |
