JK sports infra in shambles, BJP govt going ostrich ways: Congress | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Aug 22: BJP Government has failed to create desired sports edifice in the union territory and is behaving like an ostrich by putting its head in sand and claiming that sports is surmounting all previous records. This was stated by Congress leader and President of Sarpanchs Association, Dansal, Balbir Singh during a Dangal held in Kangrail Panchayat in Sagoon falling under Nagrota Constituency. Sarpanch Kishenpur Romal Singh also accompanied Balbir Singh. Addressing the gathering, Sarpanch Balbir Singh said that the existing sports infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir was exposed and the same is in shambles because players of the UT despite having plenty of talent cannot go beyond participation part in the national sports arena. “The time when far-off states like Manipur are producing world champions, players in J&K are still lurching for basic sports edifice and a feasible sports policy to hone the talent of those who are interested in opting sports as a career”, he said, adding that big promises made by the so called tall leaders of BJP in J&K have all fallen flat as the most prestigious sports facilities like MA Stadium and its counterpart in Srinagar are cleared of weeds and long grass only on national festivals of Republic Day and Independence Day to make happy those ‘steering’ the UT but when the case is of any sports event parents and coaches broom the courts and rinks of various sports. Balbir Singh said that such kind of pathetic situation was never the case in the past over 70 years as the whopping amount which was provided under Khelo India initiative during BJP-PDP regime in J&K is supposedly been usurped brazenly as on ground things are same as they were since last many years. He also demanded a thorough probe in the bungling of funds and strict action against the delinquent.
