What happened to Rs 206 cr sanctioned under AMRUT project for Jammu's development? | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 5: Mystery shrouds over “utilization” of Rs 206 crores allocated for Jammu under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Project. This whooping amount was allocated by the Union Government in the year 2017 to provide basic urban facilities in Jammu city and adjoining localities. People of Jammu city have reason to raise questions over utilization of the amount because most of the renovation works in different Nullahs have remained incomplete despite sanction of adequate funds. Mayor of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta himself raised questions over the utilization of funds sanctioned under the AMRUT project. Mayor JMC, while reviewing development activities on Saturday at ward number 52 took stock of ongoing construction work of Nullah as well as drains. As per the official handout issued by the JMC, Mayor told that the construction work of this Nallah along with other Nallahas in the city was started during the year 2018 under the AMRUT project with an allotted amount of Rs.200 crore to renovate/construct the different Nallahas of Jammu city to provide relief to the citizens from the flood-like situation in every rainy season. “But after the lapse of more than three years, its construction work has not been completed yet due to unknown reasons”, he said. Under AMRUT, Rs 206.15 crore funds were allocated for Jammu, covering the sectors like urban transport, green spaces, drainage, and sewerage. |
