Dharmarth Trust celebrates Ganesh Utsav with fervour at Raghunath Temple | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 10: Dharmarth Trust celebrated Ganesh Utsav (Ganesh Chaturthi) with religious fervour and gaiety in Raghunath Temple here on Friday. The installation of the deity was performed by the Pujaries of the temple as per the rituals thus marking the beginning of 10-day long Ganesh Festival. A Head Priest of Raghunath ji Temple speaking on the occasion informed that the Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, marks the birth of Lord Ganesh as it begins on the fourth day of the month of Bhadrapada, the sixth month of the Hindu calendar. “It concludes after 10 days on the day of Anant Chaturdashi, when the idol is immersed in the nearest water body in the city. Lord Ganesh is considered an embodiment of wisdom and widely revered as the remover of obstacles,” he added. Similarly, an idol of Ganpati ji was also installed at Shri Ranbireshwarji Temple by the temple Priests. Ajay Gandotra, President of the Trust greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory on Ganesh Chaturthi. While praying that Lord Ganesha will bless all to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic and restore peace in J&K, Trust’s President said that people should take refuge in spiritual life to overcome the throat cut pressures of today’s materialistic world. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has wonderful religious destinations especially those run by the Dharmarth Trust, which is century old institution taking care of shrines and temples. Gandotra urged people to make a routine to visit temples and take blessings of gods and goddesses to attain eternal bliss and live a contented life. He said that Dharmarth Trust is looking after the shrines and temples in a selfless manner and the state of art edifice has been raised for the comfort of devotees. “May Ganpati ji help us all to overcome COVID-19 pandemic and bless us with a happy and healthy life,” he said, adding that celebration of such festivals bring people together and cement the bonds of brotherhood and communal harmony. He hoped that this auspicious occasion will usher Jammu and Kashmir in peace. Meanwhile, a delegation of Members of Parliament today visited Shri Ranbireshwar Temple at Shalamar Road Jammu and offered prayers. Varinder Jamwal, Additional Secretary J&K Dharmarth Trust honoured the visiting delegation members and apprised them about the functioning of the Trust in maintaining the temples and shrines. Earlier, these delegation members had also visited Shri Raghunath ji Temple and paid obeisance on Thursday night.
