PTU urges union govt to restore J&K Statehood, hold Assembly elections | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 11: An urgent meeting of the senior leadership of the Panthers Trade Union (PTU) was held today, In the meeting the members passed a resolution and demanded immediate restoration of Statehood of J&K. The Panther Trade Union General Secretary, Neeraj Dewan, presided the meeting and urged the President of India for his urgent intervention to ensure that the Union Govt. follows the principles of democracy and rule of law which has been completely shadowed in J&K since August 5, 2019 when the Statehood of 200 years' old State of J&K, a constituent part of the Union of India was taken away. He conveyed in a statement that the Panther Trade Union stands for restoration of Statehood of J&K without any delay and then Assembly elections so that a democratic/elected government is constituted in J&K which has been denied to J&K since its Assembly was dissolved and the State was brought under a Union Territory list in the Constitution of India. He said that this Act of the Parliament converting the State of J&K into a Union Territory was totally illegal, improper and unconstitutional and therefore the residents of J&K have been demanding return of an elected government and return of Statehood. Neeraj Dewan said that he is constituting a mobile team of the senior leadership of PTU who shall move around the State of J&K and he himself shall accompany the team from Poonch to Kishtwar to Kathua, Billawar, Bani, Basholi and Poonch to Ramban and then shall move to the Valley of Kashmir next month. The message shall be clear 'Haq and Insaaf', Ekta (Unity), Bhaichara (Secularism), Aman (Peace) and Justice' for all. |
