JAMMU, Sept 12: Rich and heartfelt tributes were paid to Lieutenant Thakur Das Sharma on his 57th day of martyrdom who laid down his precious life while defending the borders of his country during 1965 Indo-Pak war. Bust of the martyr, installed by Akhnoor Sports Club, was unveiled by Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member Parliament (Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha constituency), who was chief guest of the tribute ceremony.
Rajeev Sharma, former MLA, Akhnoor constituency who was guest of honour, also paid tributes to the valiant army officer by garlanding his bust. DK Kapoor, SK Sharma, President and Secretary as well as entire Executive Body of Akhnoor Sports Club garlanded bust of the martyr and paid tributes to the brave army officer. Family members of the martyr, SDM and SDPO, Akhnoor, Satya Pal Saraf, renowned social worker, Sharda Bhau, District Development Councilor, Akhnoor Col JP Singh, Col Bana Ram, Capt Jugal Gupta, Past President, Ex-Servicemen's Cell, Akhnoor, sportspersons and prominent citizens of the town also paid rich tributes to the martyr. Two minute silence was observed praying for peace to the noble soul of the martyr. |
