Drug peddler names cop as narcotic supplier | | | HARPREET SINGH SETHI

KATHUA, Sept 12: The startling revelations made by a youth who was caught with a consignment of narcotic substance ‘Chitta’ has landed the police in a precarious situation as the arrested drug peddler has named a Selection Grade personal of Jammu and Kashmir Police as his supplier. The arrested drug peddler has been booked under NDPS Act and a case in this regard has been registered. It is pertinent to mention here that three days ago, the Hiranagar police had arrested one youth identified as Ram Swaroop, resident of Kanah, with 40 grams of ‘Chitta’. According to sources, when the police team questioned the arrested youth at the police station, he made a shocking disclosure. He told the police that as a supplier this work is being done by a policeman named Manzoor Ahmed, who is incharge of the ‘Malkhana’ in the Court at the district headquarters. It is to be noted that incharge of ‘Malkhana’ is responsible for monitoring the confiscated narcotic substances seized by the police from time to time. Stunned by the disclosure of the arrested youth, the police immediately swung into action. According to sources, after the matter came to the notice of the higher officials of the police, the policeman, who was alleged to be involved in supplying narcotics, was summoned for questioning. Sources further said that this policeman hails from other district and in such a situation, it has to be dug out that who are the other people involved in this network? “A Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe the allegations leveled against the cop by the drug peddler. The responsibility of investigation has been given to the SDPO Border,” said sources. SDPO Border Sanchit Mahajan informed that the police are still investigating the matter. “Can't say anything more than that,” he said. |
