Ramban: District-Level Environment Committee reviews implementation of Conservation Plan
DC directs PCB to expedite establishment of Solid Waste Management Plants

RAMBAN, Sept 16: The District-Level Environment Committee (DLEC) of Ramban today met under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam to review progress on the past decisions, directions of National Green Tribunal and the conservation and management of natural environment in the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal, CEO, PDA, Sher Singh, ACD, Zameer Rishu, CMO, Dr. Fareed Bhat, Divisional Officer, Pollution Control Committee , Ramban, Sanjay Tathore , DFO Ramban and Batote, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti, District Mineral Officer and various senior officers attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussion was held on Construction of the Waste Management Plants, Pollution Abatement in Non-attainment cities, Control in Identified Polluted River Stretches, Industrial Waste Water Management Plan, Domestic Sewage Management Plan, Mining Activity Management Plan/ Prevention of Illegal Sand Mining, Hazardous Waste Management Plan, E-Waste Management Plan, Water Quality Management Plan, Air Quality Management Plan, Noise Pollution Management Plan, Restoration of water Bodies in each Village.
The DC directed the District Officer Pollution Control Board to finalize a proposal with the service providers for establishing a Solid Waste Management Plant in Municipal Committee Batote and replicate the same in Ramban & Banihal MCs as per action plan submitted in DEP. He also directed him to expedite the process for identification of land measuring 10 Kanal at Banihal for Solid Waste Management Plant besides adequate land for Slaughter Houses at Ramban, Banihal and Batote.
While inquiring about the disposal of biomedical waste generated in Health Institutions of the district, the DC directed the DO PCB to prepare the plan for the for a plant for scientific disposal of the Bio Medical Waste.
The DC directed the concerned departments to a crackdown on illegal muck dumping in unidentified areas and water bodies in the district. The DC directed the PDA to ensure complete ban on the single use plastic in PDA’s jurisdictions and ensure proper sanitation of areas for the convenience of visitors. He also directed the EO MC Batote to assist PDA in maintaining cleanliness of the Patnitop area.
