UK cleverly shifted onus away from vaccine & on to India’s certification process: Omar | | | eaRLY tIMES rEPORT
Srinagar, Sept 22: Former chief minister and National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that the United Kingdom (UK) has cleverly shifted the onus from Covisheild vaccine to the certification process of the Government of India. Mr Abdullah was responding to the revised travel advisory issued by UK. According to the revised advisory Covishield will qualify as an approved vaccine for travellers visiting Britain from any part of the world from October 4 onwards. However, Indian travellers, who have been vaccinated with both the doses of Covishield, will still have to quarantine and get tested on arrival as Britain still does not accept CoWIN certificate. The former chief minister said that actually there is no relief for Indian travellers with this ‘revised advisory’. “Actually there is no relief for Indian travellers with this ‘revised advisory’. The UK has cleverly shifted the onus away from the vaccine & on to the certification process. Now the problem isn’t with Serum Institute/ CoviSheild but with Govt of India’s COWIN site & certification,” Mr Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging site twitter. The guidelines provided in the latest advisory suggest that UK has no problems with the formulation of the Covishield vaccine, but with the vaccine certification provided by India. |
