Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 23: On the second day of Har Ghar Poshan Tyohar workshop under Poshan Maah Poshan Abhiyan NSS GGM Science College under the patronage of Principal Dr Ravender Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO Dr Deepali Mahajan today organized a healthy competition theme "The most important meal of the Day". NSS volunteers prepared nutritional, healthy and balanced breakfasts. The event was judged by Prof Amrit Kour Isher, Associate Professor Dept. of Zoology and Prof Rashi Gupta, Associate Professor Dept of Chemistry. For the most nutritious breakfast, the volunteers choose unprocessed foods from each of the five food groups: fruits, vegetables, grains, protein foods, and dairy. They included proteins from foods like yogurts, eggs, nuts and seeds or legumes. The judges applauded the efforts by NSS volunteers. The awareness focused on the concept that breakfast jumpstarts your metabolism and, thus, helps you burn more calories throughout the day. When you eat breakfast you're telling your body that there are plenty of calories to be had for the day. When you skip breakfast the message your body gets is that it needs to conserve rather than burn any incoming calories. There are four broad sub-forms of undernutrition: wasting, stunting, underweight, and deficiencies in vitamins and minerals. Ajinka was declared first, Shifali was judged second and Nancy got the third position. Dr Ravinder Tickoo, Principal urged students to take proper nutrition and be hydrated especially in times of pandemic. People who eat a well-balanced diet tend to be healthier with stronger immune systems and lower risk of chronic illnesses and infectious diseases.
