LG's statement on annual darbar move eye-opener, end of racket: Raman Suri
9/24/2021 11:28:02 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 24: Hailing the statement by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Annual Darbar Move as a racket and waste of tax payers' money, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today said, the notion that end of this exercise has affected business in any way is vague and is just to mislead the masses. This decision of the government, he said, is apt and timely. Raman Suri said that spending about Rs 200 crore each year on this 149 years old exercise to move 10,000 employees was nothing but a waste of time, money, energy and public hours, that could have gone into productive decisions. He added that LG Manoj Sinha very rightly pointed out that this entire colossal exercise was being sustained as part of a big racket where government records went missing, machinery damaged, money wasted and undue benefits extended to a chosen few. Raman Suri said that each employee was paid Rs 25,000 as move allowance other than transport charges, accomodation, furnished rooms, free electricity and water connections and a huge security cover at both places in Jammu as well as in Srinagar. All this has come to an end by just one order and implementation of complete e-governance. He said that this should have been done earlier but since a racket was operative, this was never thought of. Raman Suri said, with its end, the Union Territory Government will not only be saving Rs 200 crore annually but also be delivering ably. In today's world even when a number of departments on e-governance were operative, ending darbar move was not any government's priority. He said that neither the business was solely dependent on this move nor any other socio-economic activity was because of these handful of employees who took the governance for granted.
