Admin imposes Corona curfew in Srinagar areas for 10 days

Srinagar, Sept 24: The District Administration on Friday imposed ten day corona curfew in six wards in the down town Srinagar with immediate effect following surge in the COVID -19 positive cases.
District Magistrate (DM) Srinagar Mohammad Aijaz Asad in an order issued this afternoon said that by virtue
of powers vested in me under Section 144 CrPC and National Disaster Management Act 2005, in my capacity as the chairpersons of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Srinagar hereby order that there shall be strict Corona Curfew in the areas of Zadibal (SMC ward number 55 Hawal, 56 Alamgari Bazar and 63 Kathi Darwaza and Lal Bazar (SMC ward number 59 Lalbazar, 60 Botshah Mohalla and 61 Umar colony) for a period of ten days starting from today.
He said there shall be a 24 hour complete Corona curfew with no movement of people except for permissible activities only. All educational institutions will remain closed. All shopping complexes, Bazars, swimming pools, parks and Zoos shall remained closed. No social gathering and functions whether indoor or outdoor shall be allowed. The permitted ceiling or marriages shall be restricted to 20 persons only and the gathering for funerals shall be limited to ten persons only.
The order said there will be no ingress and egress of public permitted in these areas except in medical emergencies.
The DM said that Superintendent Engineer of Roads and Buildings shall barricade the restricted areas.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) shall ensure intensive door to door RAT/RTPCR testing in these areas. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) shall ensure strict implementation of this order.
The DM said tehsildar Eidgah shall be the administrator for the Red Zones and all the line departments shall coordinate and cooperate with the administration for effective implementation of the order.
However, all essential services including standalone grocery, vegetable, meat and milk shops may function from 0700 hrs to 1100 hrs only. There shall be no restriction on the movement of government officials for attending office duties on production of identity card. The vaccination drive shall not be halted.
