Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 25: In continuation of 15 days certificate course on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies of Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized one day exposure visit for trainees of 15 days certificate course here today at organic farmers fields in Kansi Patta and Kans Brahmna villages of Pouni block in Reasi distt. of J&K. The visit was organised under the guidance of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.JP Sharma and Director Extension, Prof.SK Gupta of SKUAST-J. All the SOPs pertaining to COVID-19 were strictly followed while conducting the visit. Dr.Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi showcased the various technologies used by the organic farmers of area. He apprised the participants about the efforts of KVK, Reasi on organic farming in the area. The trainees were taken to showcase the vermicompost units, organic turmeric and ginger fields, organic vegetables fields etc. of progressive organic farmers of the area. The organic farmers shared their experiences on organic farming with the visitors and discussed on organic inputs such as Panchgavaya, Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Fermented Butter Milk, Neem products, Farm Yard Manures (FYM), cow urine, vermicompost, biopesticides etc. utilized by them in organic farming. They highlighted their farm activities, economic returns and constraints faced while doing the organic farming. Dr.Banarsi said that KVK, Reasi is upgrading the knowledge of the organic farmers of the villages through awareness/ training programmes, Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs), On Farmers Trials (OFTs) etc. He narrated that KVK is making strenuous efforts to promote the eco-friendly agriculture in the area so that the safe and healthy food can be produced. He added that organic farming is the need of the hour for the safety of environment and living organisms on the earth. He said that five days training programmes were organized at Organic Training Centre, Talwara which helped the farmers of the area to increase their organic crops production by adopting the scientific methods for commercial organic farming. He said that with the indiscriminate use of agrochemicals, soil health is deteriorating day- by- day resulting the ill effects on the human beings and other living organisms. He discussed on the crops rotation, pulses production, multiple cropping, microbial cultures etc. in the organic farming. He also apprised the participants about the endevours of KVK, Reasi on the commodity villages in the district. During the field visit the trainees asked various quarries which were answered satisfactorily by the organic farmers. Trainees were highly impressed by observing the successful results of organic farmers of the area. The visit was assisted by Sh. Manohar Lal and culminated by Dr.Banarsi Lal with the formal vote of thanks. |
