Training course on BLS & ACLS starts at GMC Jammu | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 25: A four day training course on integrated Basic Life Support (BLS) & Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) under the guidance of Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal GMC Jammu and Dr. Samriti Gulati, HoD Anaesthesia started today at Government Medical College, Jammu. The 27 hours of intensive interactive training is being imparted which is internationally certified as per ILCOR and AHA. Dr. Shashi said that BLS & ACLS are certified courses in the world and they are being held for the first time in GMC, Jammu. She said that GMC, Jammu is gradually making progress in all spheres towards becoming an institute of excellence. She urged the organizers and the participants to become the torch bearers and trainers for further spreading the knowledge & skills regarding BLS & ACLS amongst the other health care professionals and common masses as these are very useful in emergency situations and can save lives in times of crisis. Dr. Smriti said that Department of Anaesthesia is trying to introduce the latest technologies in the field and thanked Principal GMC Jammu for constantly encouraging to take new initiatives. In this training, a group of instructors in life support skills affiliated with Life Savers Association from Delhi will train the participants. 54 participants are going to be imparted skills in small groups using the latest devices and mannequins, life threatening situations will be simulated and participants trained in managing those using basic and advanced skills and equipment.
