ABGGF asks government to act against those who fail to take care of their cows | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 11: Akhil Bhartiya Gurukul & Gaushala Research Foundation (ABGGF), Jammu and Kashmir unit, in-charge Advocate P.S Chandel has asked the government to act tough against those cow owners who leave their cows on roads and streets and not taking proper care of these innocent and sacred animals. Chandel was speaking during a programme in which Rattan Kapoor took over as the State President of the Foundation after which Chandel along with National Executive Member Sunil Sharma made the announcement of office bearers here today. The programme commenced with the singing of National Anthem. Senior BJP leader Sham Lal Langar was the Chief Guest and Councilor Ward No: 53 Jyoti Devi was the Guest of Honour. Chandel said that Arya Samaj has been working since 1800 and conducting social activities for protection of cows. However, he lamented that even after constitution was drafted there was no provision to stop cow slaughtering and it was only in November 1948 that the Constitution was amended giving power to states to stop cow slaughtering under Article 48. He appreciated that various state governments and Municipal Corporations are even today working for the welfare of cows but there are some elements who are misusing the cows for their personal motives.
