GDC Banihal organizes special talk on Gandhi’s idea of non-violence | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAMBAN, Oct 12: GDC Banihal, following a week-long celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organized a special talk on the theme Gandhi ji: a protagonist of non-violence. The special talk was delivered by Dr Bilal Ahmad Parray, Head of Department of History, GDC Banihal. The speaker gave a brief description of idea of non-violence and how come India came to be designated as a land of spirituality and non-violence. In 1920s Gandhi ji used non-violence as a tool of his mass mobilization. The idea of non-violence helped Gandhi to convert Indian national movement into a politics of masses and not that of classes. The idea of non-violence and its usage as a political tool enlarged the cause of Indian national movement by earning massive participation of masses which in the end culminated in India’s freedom in 1947.lence by becoming more tolerant and accommodative. |
