Violence in Kashmir to adversely impact Megaprojects in Jammu Division | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 21: The recent attacks on migrant laborers in Kashmir Valley have cast a spell of fear and chaos in the valley. This fear psychosis is bound to show its impact on the ongoing mega projects in Jammu Division as well. This exodus of labor class is due to the fact that the entire laborers are concerned about their own security as well as that of their loved ones. The scenes of commotion and panic can be witnessed at Bus Stand and Railway Station in Jammu. This leaving of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir shall have an adverse impact on the ongoing mega construction projects going in the Jammu division as well because the workers are under immense pressure from their nears and dears to immediately return back from Jammu & Kashmir. As we all know more than half a dozen people were shot dead in various districts of Kashmir Valley and a few were shot dead by militants by barging into their rented houses. This has led to workers leaving the UT of Jammu & Kashmir as they don’t feel safe in Jammu & Kashmir anymore. The workers in the Jammu division who generally go to their native villages during Diwali Holidays may not come back after Diwali & Vishvakarma holidays this time due to security threats. Moreover, the new laborers who were expected to join the workforce to complete the mega projects in Jammu are not going to come as their parents will not allow them to come to UT of Jammu & Kashmir. This development is going to adversely impact the completion of fast-paced mega construction projects in the Jammu Division. A few projects which had been given deadlines are going to suffer the most. As the laborers and their families consider Jammu & Kashmir as one state and do not differentiate between violence in Jammu or Kashmir. |
