Ram Sahai led PHDCCI Jammu delegation calls on Chairperson FSSAI | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 22: Rahul Sahai, Chairman PHDCCI Jammu called on Rita Teaotia, Chairperson, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Sahai congratulated Teaotia for working tirelessly and taking many initiatives for food safety and standards. Sahai said that food sector impacts 1.35 billion Indian citizens and it is an enormous task that it just cannot be done by the regulator themselves it is got to be through participation and a shared responsibility of public and various Associations and Chambers at large. The PHDCCI delegation suggested Chairperson FSSAI about various points for food safety and standards in J&K. Sahai suggested that in ease of doing business no doubt you have implemented all online systems of Licensing and Even Audit’s of Food Businesses, but still Food business owners are not aware about this and they are still living in fear of manual harassments of inspections suggested more awareness programs in rural areas. The PHDCCI flagged some Issues of food industry affecting growth and development of food processing industry for early resolution for promotion of FP sector. The PHDCCI demanded extension of time for implementation of mandatory BIS certification for cattle feed industry by at least six months more as cattle feed industry in J&K is mostly in Micro sector and is struggling for existence because of earlier turmoil in this region, followed by abolition of toll tax, situation arising after UT formation, Covid-19 perpetually being located in land locked territory.
