Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 22: Case for a National Highway (NHW) from Sudh Mahadev upto Ramnagar-Rown Domail via Dudu Basantgarh today found an echo with Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Raid and Surface Transport. The two lakh population of Ramnagar, Chenani, Latti, Basantgarh and Udhampur tehsils has been languishing for the same. Ranbir Singh Pathania, Spokesperson J&K BJP, further said that once we are planning to make Jammu region as an independent tourist destination and without developing the areas of Mantalai, Sudh Mahadev, Latti, Dudu Basantgarh, Gandhtop, Majouri, Kulwanta and Ramnagar and providing viable road connectivity thereto, the said gospel cannot be completed. More so, this area has not only scenic spots which have potential in paragliding, educational tourism as well as pilgrimage tourism also. This area has good scope for floriculture, agriculture, apiculture, cooperative dairy farming too. But the area reels under worst under development as well as unemployment due to lack of road connectivity. Migration is a serious issue in these areas. A sweeping, neglected lot has been longing, since independence, for want of basic needs. Pathania further said that he welcomes announcement of four national highways in various terrains of J&K. He said that one more national highway on the aforesaid alignment, Sudh Mahadev to Ramnagar-Roun needs to be announced so as to do justice with the area and afford permanent road connectivity to the people of the area. |
