Cong holds protest against inflation, poor power-water supply | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 23: In continuation to its "Jan Jagaran Abhiyan", the Congress today staged a massive protest against incessant hike in prices of LPG and other essential commodities, irregular power and water supply and especially to seek restoration of statehood. The protest was led by Gurmeet Singh, President Beopar Mandal and District General Secretary Congress. Addressing the protesters, Gurmeet Singh said that the rate of LPG has touched an all time high of Rs 951 per cylinder, adding that common man is unable to bear such a huge cost for one of the basic necessities for any household. The soaring prices of essential commodities clearly show the BJP Govt is openly looting the general public and has totally failed to take care of common man's interests. Gurmeet Singh also highlighted the local issues that are plaguing the people of Ward No 3, Jammu East, especially the irregular power and water supplies. The public is completely disappointed with the Union Territory governance as countless problems have come before the common man. Singh strongly stressed for restoration of statehood to J&K. Prominent among those present on the occasion included Ward No 3 Congress President Hardavinder Singh, Manohar Joshi, Seema Devi, Sudesh Kumari, Sanjay Sharma, Gourav Khajuria, Sourabh, Sat Pal, Brij Mohan and several others. |
