Unsafe school buildings in Suchetgarh posing risk to students: Tony
11/23/2021 10:05:09 PM
Early Times Report
SUCHETGARH, Nov 23: Highlighting the significant issue being confronted by the people of Suchetgarh Constituency, the concerned DDC Member, Taranjit Singh Tony said that the government schools running under unsafe buildings in several villages are on edge and not in a position to withstand any kind of onslaught thus posing a grave risk to pupils and the faculty.
In a statement issued to media, Tony categorically named the government schools falling in villages Sattriyan, Seer, Sae and Floura claiming that the buildings housing the same are in dilapidated conditions and a tragedy can happen any time as the very first look at these buildings is quite enough to gauge the level of threat as any onslaught due to weather vagaries, tremor, gale can decimate these buildings like house of cards. The DDC member demanded that a safety audit of these school buildings is the need of the time and sooner than later the renovation work should be started to fortify these buildings housing the nation builders of the coming times.
He said that the government cannot shun its responsibility by looking the other way around as the matter is of great importance and involves the safety of children. He said that the onus of making the children the meaningful citizens of the country lies on the shoulders of the teacher fraternity therefore they cannot take things lightly.
Tony also demanded that along with creating a robust infrastructure in schools the strength of teachers should also be rationalized as the same is imperative for imparting quality education and side by side imbibing moral and ethical values among the future generation of the country. He reiterated the demand of accomplishing safety audits of all school buildings claiming that the government should not take any risk by allowing classes in buildings which are unsafe and can come down with the first wind of the autumn season or winter rains.
