Early Times Report AKHNOOR, Nov 25: Sub Narinder Singh of 9 PARA COMMANDO (SF), who belongs to village Tanda-Gandharwan of Tehsil Akhnoor was awarded Shaurya Chakra, the 3rd Highest Gallantry Award in the Indian Armed Forces, by Hon'ble President of India Ram Nath Kovind in a solemn but glittering investiture ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on 22 November 2021. He is the another brave son of the soil who has done the Duggerland proud by foiling the attempt of Pakistani 'Battle Action Team' to capture our Army forward Post. He thus joins elite warriors group of Hony Capt Bana Singh, Param Vir Chakra, 8 JAK LI and Hony Capt Surinder Singh, Ashok Chakra, 4 JAK RIF and Capt Tushar Mahajan, Shaurya Chakra of his own unit. As a Commander of an elite Commando Team, he displayed his leadership qualities and military skills in a manner that in July 2019, he not only foiled an attempt of the enemy to capture our forward defence locality by ambushing Pak Battle Action Team on the LoC itself but caused immense casualties and personally killed two of them and seriously wounded the third intruder in a close fight. "His citation states that when deployed on the LoC, N/Sub, now Sub, Narinder Singh got intelligence report that a strong enemy 'Battle Action Team', equipped with heavy weaponry and explosives was to surreptitiously cross over to capture our post on the LoC. |
