| GDC Sidhra organizes webinar on “Safe and Secure Computing” | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 4: Cyber Jaagrookta (Awareness) Diwas Committee of GDC Sidhra under the banner of “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav,” organized a webinar on the theme “Safe and Secure Computing” today.
The programme was conducted under the patronship of Prof (Dr) Monika Sharma, Principal GDC Sidhra. The resource person for the event was Prof Joginder Kumar, Asstt Prof of Computer Applications, GDC Paloura. The webinar commenced with a welcome address by Prof Shonima Malhotra, Asstt Prof of Sociology. Principal, Prof (Dr) Monika Sharma also addressed the meeting with her valuable words.
The main aim of this event was to create awareness among the students about the safer and cautious use of digital world.
The resource person apprised the students about the fact that if digital technology has contributed to the development of the society, it has also led to the emergence of various cyber related anti social activities. He further acquainted the students about safety of computers and its data from viruses, spyware to identity theft, cyber crimes and computer hardware malfunctioning.
He also gave various preventive tips like use of firewall services, installation of protective softwares and anti viruses, keeping the computer updated etc. as security guard measures from various cyber related crimes. The students participated whole heartedly in the event and had a lively interaction with the resource person.
The webinar was organized by Prof Shonima Malhotra (Nodal Officer, Cyber Jaagrookta Diwas Committee) with the active support and coordination of other members of the committee - Prof Mussarat Chowdhary, Dr Mahak Mengi and Pragati Jasrotia. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr Mahak Mengi, PTI of the college.
