GDC Bishnah organizes seminar on cleanliness | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 4: The NSS Unit of Govt Degree College (GDC) Bishnah under Clean India Programme organized the volunteers’ seminar on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. Anmol Sharma of Sem-V gave her presentation on Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Kritika of Sem-I presented on Gandhian views on Cleanliness, Vishesh Sharma of Sem-III threw light on Waste Management, Mini Bhat of Sem-III delved on importance of Awareness on Sanitation for Behavioural Change, Tania Mehra of Sem-V explained the Harmful Effects of Plastics. The aim of the Volunteers seminar was self awareness of the volunteers before launching the awareness campaign on cleanliness for the people of Bishnah Town and the adopted villages. Speaking during the seminar, Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college appreciated the approach of the volunteers for self awareness and then disseminating the message of cleanliness among the people. Later the volunteers along with the NSS PO, Prof Amit Kumar Sharma visited the office of the Municipal Committee Bishnah to know the modus operandi of the municipal committee in waste disposal and waste management in Bishnah Town. The aim of the visit was to understand the working of the committee viz-a-viz peoples response. Rajan Sharma, President Municipal Committee Bishnah and Ajay Sangra, Executive Officer MC Bishnah comprehensively explained to the volunteers the working, bottlenecks and the way forward as far as the waste management and disposal is concerned. They exhorted the volunteers to effect behavioural change in people as far as waste segregation at source is concerned. The volunteers thanked the representatives and officers of the Municipal Committee Bishnah for the practical information regarding the waste Management and its disposal.
