Laxity in fight against COVID-19 will cost lives: Suri | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 11: Expressing his grave concern over rising number of COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri today asked people not to lower their guard and stay alert besides adhere to all COVID-19 guidelines to save precious lives. He also asked the administration to adopt strict measures so that people don't adopt any laxity. Raman Suri said that while businesses must be allowed to function in routine, special emphasis must be laid down on implementation of COVID-19 guidelines so that people shop with safety and the shopkeepers as well as traders earn their livelihood ably. He said that people have already suffered a lot and no one can afford to shut his or her business for a long period now but adopting safety measures should not be ignored. Raman Suri said, though administration has expedited checking in markets and is also taking violators for COVID-19 tests yet a lot needs to be done to contain the spread of virus. Government must keep in check the number of people at gatherings at various places and social events besides officials meetings and marriages, so that people don't crowd at one place or show any laxity in following the COVID-19 guidelines. He said, in just eight days four containment zones have come up in Jammu, which means that virus is again spreading. He urged people to take this issue seriously, follow COVID-19 guidelines, stop crowding markets and co-operate to the core so that precious human lives are not put at risk. Suri said that while the government is doing its part in helping people carry on with their routines, the leniency should not be taken for granted. This all will cause chaos and cost us our lives, he said, asking the government to once again start implementing the COVID-19 guidelines seriously, which is the need of the hour. |
