| GDC Thannamandi organizes botanical tour to forests of Shahdara Sharief | | |

RAJOURI, Dec 11: The Department of Botany, Government Degree College Thannamandi, in collaboration with Tour and Travel Committee of the college, organized a one day Botanical tour to the forests of Shahdara Shrief, for students of 5th semester. This tour was organised with the intent to provide practical knowledge to the students about type of vegetation, cultivation, exotic species, plant ecology, etc.
The tour bus was flagged off by the principal of the college Prof. (Dr) Javaid Ahmed Qazi from the college campus.
The tour comprised of 35 students from semester 5th of the Department of Botany of the college. Dr. Nahim-un-Nisa (Convener, Women Development Cell), Prof. Mudasir Majeed (Convener, Grievance Redressal Committee), Chief Librarian, Waqar Ahmed (Convener, Tour and Travel Committee) also accompanied the tour which was conducted under overall control and headship of Dr. Tajinder Singh, HOD Department of Botany.
During this tour, the students witnessed various varieties of plants which are not indigenous to this region and were cultivated by Aqaf Board, UT of J&K in different forest patches of Shahdara Shrief.
Dr. Tajinder Singh demonstrated various aspects of this cultivation to the students and stressed upon them to arrange such nature friendly activities in their localities also. |
