2-day workshop on Output-Outcome Monitoring Framework concludes at Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 23: The Two-day workshop on Output-Outcome Monitoring Framework (OOMF) organised by Planning Development and Monitoring Department, Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with Development Monitoring & Evaluation Office (DMEO), NITI Aayog, GoI, concluded here today at Convention Centre. The workshop was chaired by Sekhar Bonu, Director General, DMEO, NITI Aayog, GoI. The resource persons were from NITI Aayog, GoI.
The workshop aimed at sensitizing and building greater understanding of officers of Economics and Statistics Cadre of Jammu & Kashmir on Output-Outcome Monitoring Framework. The Framework endeavors to provide measurable indicators for achievement of scheme objectives, or the 'Outcomes'. Actively tracking progress against defined targets provides two key benefits for governance: improving (i) the development impact and (ii) the public accountability of every rupee spent by the Government.
Secretary Planning Development and Monitoring Department, J&K, Sushma Chauhan, highlighted the need for holding the workshop besides giving details of initiatives taken by Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir in framing and adopting Output-Outcome Monitoring Framework for monitoring of schemes being implemented by Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
While giving an account of headways made by Planning Development & Monitoring Department, J&K, regarding Framing of OGMF, the Secretary, PD&MD informed that Government of Jammu & Kashmir has decided that OOMF shall be framed for schemes of 10 priority sectors/ departments in consultation with Department Monitoring & Evaluation Office (DMEO), GOI, during financial Year 2022-23 and shall be carried on further in financial year 2023-24. These departments are Health & Medical Education, Higher Education, Power Development, Public Works, Jal Shakti, Social Welfare, Rural Development, Housing & Urban Development, Agriculture Production, Industries & Commerce, she added.
The workshop was attended by Officers of Economics and Statistics Cadre - Director Generals, Directors, Joint Directors/ Deputy Director working in ten selected Administrative Departments besides officers of Planning Development & Monitoring Department.
